This work reflects is a modern interpretation of the classical Zen garden landscape. The calmness, the simplicity of the design, and how each element's placement creates a natural "flow" are all inspired by the serenity of the Japanese Garden. This environment allows me to slow down and enjoy each moment while strolling on the garden’s path. In this image, the main focus is a broken branch from a Japanese Pine. I found it during one of my regular walks around my neighborhood. I have always admired this delicate evergreen. When I saw this branch had been damaged by a storm, I knew I needed to bring it back to my studio to create a contemporary still-life image. To capture the modern-style, I digitally enhanced the image with bright blue shades while maintaining a calming effect. This composition is simple and offers enough negative space for your eyes to rest. Picture yourself taking a moment to relax on a garden bench… pause… rest your mind.
